Jon Thorne (who mostly goes by his Hebrew nickname, Yoni) grew up in Southern California and has been farming since 1996. Tali Adini grew up in Philadelphia. She moved to Israel at age 18 and received her bachelor's degree there in 1990. In the early 1990's they traveled to Southeast Asia and beyond for a year. It was in New Zealand that they became interested in organic farming. Upon returning to the US, they worked and apprenticed in California, the Hudson Valley, and Ithaca for several years. In the fall of 1997 they began renting land at the current location, about 5 miles from downtown Ithaca. Their daughter, Lani, joined their family in February 2001.
